In this paper a case a “sudden worsening” of the
compensation in so far well compliant female patient with type 2
diabetes mellitus is discussed and possible consequences of the
technical defect of glucometer together with other unfavorable
conditions are described. Using the computer control of glycemia values
and the program for data assessment, the fault in glycemia values
displayed by the glucometer has been revealed and other potential
complications (namely hypoglycemias) induced by inadequate therapy
adjustment have been prevented.

The paper presents the treatment of a type 2
diabetic patient with poorly compensated diabetes and poor
compliance with the therapy. It demonstrates the effect of a
long term acting insulin analogue detemir on both the
compensation of diabetes and patient’s well-being.

We present a case of a female patient with type 2
diabetes mellitus to date treated with oral antidiabetics (OAD); for
the worsening of her condition she was admitted to our department. She
was successfully put on a course of basal insulin therapy with a long
term acting insulin analogue. The patient reached a good metabolic
compensation and by putting her on purposed course of treatment she was
able to remain maximally self-dependent and independent of the care of
other people.

We describe a case of acutely developed severe
hyponatremia and hypoosmolality in the young male after the head trauma.
The cause was the posttraumatic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic
hormone secretion (SIADH). Despite of the resuscitation, metabolic and
neurological care the brain edema and severe hypoxic-ischemic changes in
the grey matter of both hemispheres and brain pons developed. While
primary endocrinologic impairment has completely ceased within next
three months, the severe irreversible changes of the brain correlate
with the apalic syndrome.

The authors describe the unusual case of the
obstruction of the upper swallowing and breathing pathways associated
with the ectopic, lingually situated thyroid gland. Additionally to the
etiopatogenic analyze and sings and symptoms of this condition, the
diagnosis and therapy are also discussed in this article.

A case of a rare duplicity of the mixed
follicular/medullar carcinoma and papillary carcinoma of thyroid gland
in a 68 years old patient with polynodous goiter on the right side. The
patient repeatedly refused to be examined by aspiration cytology. Only
after the progression of her goiter she consented to hemithyroidectomy.
The rare duplicity of thyroid gland carcinoma in this patient was
clarified by the histological examination.
